Biography

Nancy DuCharme is the Principal of her own law firm, established after over a decade at a large international law firm based in Chicago. Working with large companies as well as small businesses, Nancy’s practice includes advising clients on intellectual property matters (primarily trademark, copyright, and trade secret), technology issues, licensing and commercial contract matters, and advertising, distribution, and marketing legal issues. Prior to law school, Nancy gained first-hand experience in the business world, holding a variety of marketing positions for a large telecommunications company. Immediately following law school, Nancy was selected for the prestigious position of law clerk at the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago.

In addition to her legal practice, Nancy has served as an Adjunct Professor for over 25 years teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses on business, law and ethics.  She frequently gives presentations on intellectual property to entrepreneurs and has served as an arbitrator for the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Nancy is a natural peacemaker.  From handling the skirmishes of three (now grown) sons to negotiating business contracts, settling disputes and resolving complex commercial litigation, Nancy has the temperament and experience to help parties in conflict find common ground.  Nancy also is fluent in French from a college program in Angers, France and lifelong studies.  Her colleagues note that “Nancy is approachable and a good listener – in two languages.”
