In a healthcare career spanning nearly 40 years, Jim Lyons has been CEO of three hospitals and also lead the operations of two large medical groups. Jim has developed several successful joint ventures, negotiated numerous physician employment and compensation agreements and dealt successfully with HMO’s and other insurers. In two particularly challenging situations, he played a key role in a hospital acquisition of a large independent medical group and later in unwinding the combined organization, leading to part of the group being retained while transferring ownership of the remainder to another hospital system. More recently, Jim has been an interim CEO for two hospital owned physician groups and served in a consulting and coaching role for a number of others.
In addition to his broad background in healthcare Jim has extensive not-for-profit experience based upon his service as a trustee for local United Way and Good will Industries affiliates among others.
Jim’s experience leading both medical groups and hospitals provides him with a unique perspective in understanding these two very different types of organizations. As someone who has routinely had to address difficult and contentious issues, Jim stands out for his reasoned, fair-minded approach. His calm demeanor, together with a style that is always respectful, straight-forward and results-oriented, engenders trust and confidence on all sides
