Dave Brown’s primary expertise is business and legal problem solving, with a large dose of creative thinking to achieve the critical objectives of an enterprise. Dave specialized in helping start-up ventures structure, finance, organize, execute and build to success. This necessarily involves various disciplines and determination to find solutions to legal and business obstacles critical to the viability and success of the venture. Dave is known for thinking out of the box and for finding the best option, which often had not been considered.
Dave Brown served as General Counsel for the United States Office of Minority Business Enterprise. After practicing commercial law for over 10 years, Dave was CFO and General Counsel of a specialty chemical company for over 15 years. In those roles, Dave became familiar with manufacturing and sales representation marketing while being directly responsible for banking, insurance, IT development and managing the company’s legal affairs, including litigation, real estate, contracting, proprietary property protection, and enforcement of covenants not to compete.
Dave currently serves on the DeVry Education Group’s Audit and Academic Committees and has been intimately involved in the strategic business planning of that company since its founding. In addition to his work on the boards of directors of public and private companies, Dave is a Trustee for a non-profit college scholarship foundation.
